Support

Last updated:

This page collects fixes for the problems that come up most often, plus the one address to write to when a fix is not enough. Maintenea runs as a web app in the browser at maintenea.com/app, and there is an iOS client alongside it; support covers both.

How to get help

Write to support@maintenea.com. Maintenea is one person’s project, so there is no guaranteed response time — every message gets read, most get an answer within a few working days, and some take longer. There is no phone line and no chat.

To make the first reply a useful one, include:

  • the platform — web (and which browser), or iOS (and which system version),
  • the app version on iOS: it sits at the bottom of Settings, under the list,
  • what you were doing in the app, step by step,
  • what happened, and what you expected instead,
  • a screenshot or the exact error text, if one appeared.

Common problems and what to do

  • Signing in with Apple or Google fails — try again with any VPN turned off and third-party script blocking disabled, and on the web in a normal rather than a private window. If you created the account with an e-mail and password, sign in that way; an Apple or Google sign-in links to an existing account only when the e-mail address matches on both sides. That is why an Apple account using a hidden relay address can end up as a separate account.
  • The password reset e-mail never arrived — check spam and any promotions folder, and confirm the address matches the one the account is registered to. You can request it again; the mail is generated automatically and sometimes lands a few minutes late. If a second attempt brings nothing, write in.
  • A workout did not save because the gym has no signal — the data is not lost. In the iOS app an unsaved workout goes into a queue and is sent on its own once there is a connection; Settings shows how many entries are still waiting. On the web an unfinished workout stays on the device, so you can save it once you are back online. In both cases, do not delete the app or sign out before the entry has gone through.
  • The home screen widget shows stale numbers — the system refreshes widgets on its own schedule, which is not immediate. Open the app and leave it in the foreground for a moment to push fresh data through. If the numbers stay stale, long-press the widget, remove it, and add it again; also check that you are still signed in, because signing out clears the widget deliberately.
  • Apple Health data is missing or not syncing — the permission lives in the system, not in Maintenea: iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Health → Maintenea. Reading and writing are granted separately, so one can work while the other does not. Health also does not hand over history from before the permission was given.
  • Something looks broken after an update — on the web this is almost always an old version held in the browser cache: reload the page, or close and reopen the app you added to the home screen. On iOS, quit the app and start it again. If it survives that, write in and say which screen it was.

Account and data

  • Deleting the account: in the app, Settings → Account → Delete account. The account and all data, progress photos included, go immediately and irreversibly. Download a copy first if you want one.
  • Exporting data: Settings → Account → Export downloads everything as a single JSON file. Workouts on their own can also be downloaded as CSV.
  • Importing from another app or a spreadsheet: Settings → Import accepts a CSV in Maintenea’s format (max 5 MB). The sample file is downloadable there; match its columns, check the preview, and confirm. Workouts already in the account are skipped.
  • Changing the e-mail or password on an account you cannot get into: write from the address the account is registered to. Without that there is no way to verify the account is yours, and the change will not be made.

Privacy and health data

Nobody but you sees your progress photos, body measurements, or weight. The data is not sold and is not used for advertising. Anything read from Apple Health stays in your account and is used only to show your own progress. The full text, including processors and retention periods, is at maintenea.com/privacy.

Not a medical service

Maintenea is a log, not a medical tool. It does not replace a coach or a doctor, it makes no diagnosis, and it gives no training or treatment advice. Talk to a professional before starting a new training programme, and whenever something about your health concerns you.
